Marek Chlanda

Marek Chlanda (born November 12, 1954 in Krakow ) is a Polish draftsman, graphic artist, installation and performance artist.

Chlanda studied graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow until 1978 , where he also taught from 1980 to 1982. With students from Bergen, Norway, he experimented with a hiking academy from 1983-84. From 1986 to 1988 he taught at the Cieszyn branch of the Silesian University .

In the mid-1970s, Chlanda made his debut as a cartoonist. Right from the start, he included elements such as performance, concert and documentation in his graphic work and used objects such as pieces of skin and wooden blocks, slats and cords. His works usually emerge as series such as Beatyfikacje (2006–07) and Tranzyt (2009–10). After Nozizen Andrzej Szewczyks , the Uzdrowisko series was created in 2012 .

In addition to numerous group exhibitions, Chlanda had solo exhibitions at the Lodz Art Museum (1985), the Museum of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw ( Miejsca rzeźby. Beuys, Chlanda, Rabinowitch , 1988), in the Warsaw Galeria Foksal ( Kodeks Nadwiślański , 2003; Pamiętniki Boga , 2004; Sześć dni , 2006) in the National Museum Poznań ( Beatyfikacje , 2009) and in the Museum of Contemporary Art Krakow ( Tranzyt , 2012). His works have been shown abroad at the Biennale of Sydney (1982) and in the exhibition Polish Realities in Glasgow (1988) and Positions Polen in Berlin (1991).
