Marga (Margaretha) von Amburger (* 1878 in St. Petersburg , † 1961 in Berlin ) was a painter in Berlin-Charlottenburg , where she lived and worked from 1901 until her death.

Life

Marga von Amburger was the daughter of the German doctor Gustav Amburger (1840–1895) and Anna Amburger, born in St. Petersburg. Baroness of Reischach († 1924). After her father's death, she moved to Berlin-Charlottenburg with her mother in 1901 and began training as a painter with Walter Leistikow and Leo von König, among others . In 1903 she married the lawyer Carl Groening, from whom she was divorced in 1906.

Create

Marga von Amburger primarily created atmospheric landscapes and still lifes. She belonged to the Association of Visual Artists (WVbK) in Berlin.

Works

In addition to numerous still lifes and landscapes that she created, in 1931 she received the commission for the work “BZ am Mittag” from “BZ am Mittag”, the first German tabloid. Newspaper seller on Potsdamer Platz ”, which is now in the Journalists' Club on the 19th floor of the Axel Springer high-rise in Berlin: the painting is visible in the background.
