Margaret Elphinstone

Margaret Elphinstone (born September 23, 1948 in Kent , England) is a Scottish writer.

Life

Margaret Elphinstone was born in Kent. She attended Queen's College in London and the University of Durham . The author teaches English literature and creative writing at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. Her academic research interests are Scottish writers and the literature of the islands off Scotland.

Extended study trips took Margaret Elphinstone to Iceland , Greenland , Labrador and the USA. She lived on the Shetland Islands for eight years and is the mother of two children.

Before the author received her professorship in Glasgow in 2003, she worked in various places in a wide variety of jobs. Some of these works inspired her to publish:
