Margaret Josephine McDonagh, Baroness McDonagh (born June 26, 1961 ) is a British Labor Party politician who has been a Life Peeress member of the House of Lords since 2004 .

Life

Margaret McDonagh began after attending school and studying in 1983, an activity as an organizer in the party administration of the Labor Party and rose to the party's deputy general secretary. In 1998 she succeeded Tom Sawyer as the first woman general secretary of the Labor Party and held this position until she was replaced by David Triesman in 2001.

Margaret McDonagh was raised to the nobility by a letters patent dated June 24, 2004 as a life peeress with the title Baroness McDonagh , of Mitcham and of Morden in the London Borough of Merton . Shortly thereafter took place on 13 July 2004 its introduction ( Introduction ) as a member of the House of Lords . In the House of Lords she belongs to the Labor Party faction .

Baroness McDonagh is currently a member of the board of directors of the airport operating company TBI plc and a board member of AM Creative Limited. She is also director of the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation .

Her older sister Siobhain McDonagh is also a politician of the Labor Party and represents since the general election from 1 May 1997 the constituency Mitcham and Morden as deputies in the House of Commons .
