Margaret Storm Jameson
Margaret Storm Jameson (born January 8, 1891 in Whitby , † September 30, 1986 ) was an English writer .
Storm Jameson moved to London after graduating from Leeds University . She taught here for a while before becoming a full-time writer. She became known for her short stories. Even after her marriage to the historian and writer Guy Chapman, she continued to publish under her maiden name.
She was a member of the Labor Party and campaigned early on for fellow writers who had fled Germany. In 1933 she convinced Lilo Linke , with whom she had been in contact since 1931, to turn her back on Nazi Germany and go to England.
In 1939 Margaret Storm Jameson became Chair of the British PEN Center .
