Margarete Michaelson
Margarete Michaelson (pseudonym Ernst Georgy , born May 24, 1873 in Berlin ; † December 12, 1924 there ) was a German writer .
Life
Growing up in a Jewish family of the Berlin educated middle class, Margarete Michaelson graduated from the Berlin teacher training college in 1891. In 1892 a linguistic exam and a handicraft exam followed.
She traveled through Russia, France and Italy; and published short novels and translations in magazines under various pseudonyms . Her first novel Out of Passion appeared in 1896 under the pseudonym Ernst Georgy , which she kept. She was one of the most famous novelists and screenwriters in the 1920s. Her twelve-volume novel From the Memoirs of a Berlin Range received a lot of attention. Her sister was the art writer Anna Michaelson , who wrote under the pseudonym Jarno Jessen .
