Margarethe von Berg (Kleve)

Margarethe von Berg († allegedly October 10, 1425) was a daughter of Count Gerhard von Berg from the House of Jülich and Margarete von Ravensberg-Berg and the wife of Count Adolf I of Kleve-Mark .

Life

In 1369 Margarethe married Adolf von der Mark, the former bishop of Münster and Elekten of Cologne , who had ruled the county of Kleve since 1368 . In 1373 the eldest son of the couple, who later became Count Adolf II from Kleve, was born , and 15 more children followed. Margarethe survived her husband, who died in 1394, by more than 30 years and lived as a widow at Monterberg Castle . She died in 1425 and was buried next to her husband in the Klever collegiate church ; the couple's tomb tumba is preserved there.
