Margriet Eshuys

Margriet Eshuys (born October 14, 1952 in Zaandam ) is a Dutch pop singer and pianist.

Eshuys had accordion and guitar lessons as a child, and from 1968 the organ was added as an additional instrument. Since 1973 she has been a member of the pop trio Lucifer as a singer and instrumentalist , with whom she released two albums on the EMI label. The group toured Germany and England and won third place at the 1976 National Song Festival with Eshuys' composition Someone is waiting for you .

With the guitarist Lex Bolderdijk , the bassist Jan Hollestelle , the drummer Ton op 't Hof and the keyboardist Peter Schön , she recorded the LP Right on time in 1980 and the very successful single Black Pearl in 1981 . After a long break, she released the album Sometimes with her own band in 1991 , which was awarded the Golden Harp. The wee small hours followed in 1993 with compositions by Maarten Peters . In 1998 Eshuys was awarded the Orde van Oranje-Nassau for her services to Dutch pop music .

In 2001 the concept album Time was created with compositions and texts by Maarten Peters. In 2005 the touring album In Concert was produced with a cast of Maarten Peters, Co Vergouwen , David de Marez Oyens , Mark Eshuis and Marieke Esser . In the summer of 2006 Eshuys and her band gave concerts with the singer Mariska Veres .
