Margrit Barth

Margrit Barth (born May 15, 1944 in Stettin ) is a German politician ( SED , PDS , Die Linke ) and was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 1995 to 2011 . In 1995 she was dismissed as a youth councilor because of concealed Stasi contacts. She was the child and youth policy spokeswoman for the left group.

Life and work

Until 1960 Margrit Barth attended the Polytechnische Oberschule and from 1960 to 1963 studied to become a lower school teacher. In 1973 she graduated as a qualified mathematics teacher. From 1975 to 1978 Barth worked at the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences and did his doctorate in the field of pedagogy. Before embarking on a political career, she worked as a teacher, school principal and scientist. Barth is married, has two grown children and two grandchildren.

From 1975 to 1989 Barth was a member of the SED . In 1994 she joined the PDS , since 2007 the Left Party. From 1992 to 1995, Margrit Barth was district councilor for youth, family and culture in the Marzahn district . As a youth councilor, she was dismissed in 1995 because she had made a declaration in 1992 that she would not have worked for the GDR State Security , but that a declaration of commitment was found in 1994. Her release was upheld by a court in 2000. She sued against this decision. From 1995 to 2011 she was 2 directly elected members of the Berlin House of Representatives in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf constituency . Barth was a member of the Education, Youth and Family Committees, the Petitions Committee and a member of the State Youth Welfare Committee.
