The Mariánskolázeňský zlom (German: Marienbader Bruchzone) near Mariánské Lázně and the quartz wall near are the most important fault lines of regional importance in the western Czech Republic .

Marienbad fracture zone near Drmoul

The Aš fault zone is found in the area of ​​the Chebská pánev (German: Eger basin) on the southwestern border of the Tertiary. Basalt outlets south of Cheb , including the Komorní hůrka outlet, are linked to it. The U Cihelny area north of Drmoul (German: Dürrmaul) is formed by Smrčina granite.

The Marienbad fracture zone extends in the north to the Eger Basin and is the origin of many swarm quakes. To the southwest of it lies the Tachovská brázda valley basin (German: Tachauer Furche). The continuation of the quartz wall creates the so-called Hazlover quartz wall at the site of Goethův vrch (German: Goethestein; 670 m) .
