Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Rudné

The Catholic parish church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary (Czech kostel Navštívení Panny Marie ) in Rudné (German Trinksaifen ), a district of the municipality of Vysoká Pec u Nejdku ( blast furnace ) in the Czech Republic , was built from 1786 to 1788 and is a protected architectural monument.

history

The village of Trinksaifen belonged to the parish of St. Martin in Neudek until 1784 and was then raised to a separate parish. The neighboring village of blast furnace was parish. Because of the unfavorable location of the place and the difficult way to Neudek, especially in winter, the residents were given their own church. The construction took place at the expense of the kk religious fund , which also had the right of patronage . The foundation stone was laid in 1786 and consecrated in 1788. The baroque onion dome on the tower was later replaced by a pointed helmet . At times, two priests worked for the parish in the 19th century. In 1930 the parish had 1820 Catholics.

After the expulsion of the German population after 1945, the church was unused and consequently in need of renovation. From 1985 to 1996 it was extensively renovated and rebuilt through donations from former German residents. On September 8th, 1996 there was a solemn service with Bishop František Radkovský from Pilsen. Under the south facade of the church is the former baroque rectory, which is currently used by the social welfare institution in Rudné.

The church has a cemetery on which there are still a few German gravestones. The great famine in the years 1771 to 1772 claimed 600 victims in the Neudek parish alone. Since there was no more space in the Neudek cemetery, a separate churchyard was laid out in Trinksaifen until it was enlarged. Sometimes the dead were buried behind their own houses.
