Maria Biller

Maria Biller , née Maria Nagy (* before 1950, † 2012 ) was a German - Hungarian basketball player .

Life

With the national team of her native Hungary, Nagy won silver at the European Championships in 1950 and 1956, at the 1952 European Championship in the Soviet Union she was the second best Hungarian scorer with 15.8 points per match and achieved third place with the selection. She came to a total of 57 international matches for Hungary, from 1957 she played at club level for Heidelberger TV in Germany and won the German championship in 1957/58 with the HTV. At that time she was called "the best foreign force that has ever played in a German club team". Nagy, who was now called Maria Biller after her marriage to Gerhard Biller , also won the German championship title with the HTV in the 1958/59 season . In the 1959/60 season the success was repeated, Biller again won the German championship with Heidelberg. The native Hungarian, who took German citizenship after her wedding, was also the coach of the men's team at Heidelberger TV. Her son Matthias, born in 1967, played for USC Heidelberg  in the 2nd Bundesliga basketball division .
