Maria Hilf (Klobenreuth)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Roman Catholic local chapel Maria Hilf is located in the Klobenreuth district of Kirchendemenreuth . It belongs to the Kirchendemenreuth branch office , which is now administered from Parkstein together with the parish of St. Pankratius .

history

The Mariahilfkapelle was built in 1873; It was donated by farmer Michael Hauser from the abandoned property "beim Treml". Before the chapel was built, there was already a bell tower on the farm. The chapel was built by the master mason Bauer from Neustadt an der Waldnaab , who had prepared a plan for it on May 20, 1873, which was approved by the citizens without objections. The pastor at the time, Mathias Pöllmann, had failed to inform the Episcopal Ordinariate in Regensburg about the construction of the chapel; the construction had only been submitted to the Royal District Office of Neustadt for approval; this failure could only be resolved after extensive correspondence with the ordinariate in 1883. In the course of the dispute, the nine Catholic farm owners from Klobenreuth had committed themselves to "maintaining the newly built chapel for everlasting times".

The first Holy Mass was only celebrated here in 1938 by Pastor Michael Schaumberger. He was also given permission to hold mass here three to four times a year and he was allowed to benedicate the chapel before the first mass .

Building description

The chapel has a steep roof . It is closed on three sides, with a granite entrance portal at the front. The chapel is crowned with a massive, tower-like roof turret in the shape of a pyramid with a bent helmet.

Furnishing

The altar was built by a carpenter named Michael Näger from Premenreuth (now part of Reuth near Erbendorf ). Since he was also involved in wood carving, it can be assumed that the four altar figures also come from him (two male and two female figures, which, with the exception of St. Barbara , cannot be clearly identified). The altarpiece is said to be a copy of the Maria-Hilf picture by Lucas Cranach the Elder .

The local congregation had also bought a Way of the Cross , which had caused the displeasure of the Regensburg Ordinariate and which was described as "unsuitable for church use". The pictures are painted in the Nazarene style , it could not be consecrated until 1933 by Pastor Georg Bayer from Altenstadt . The pictures were restored in 1993, which refuted the prediction of the ordinariate that “the stations presented will only have a very short duration”.

Bells

The chapel was initially equipped with a bell that probably came from the Tremlhof. The Klobenreuther were able to hide the bell during the First World War and keep it from melting down, but during the Second World War it was removed for war purposes. In 1947 two new bells, which were manufactured by a bell foundry in Westphalia, were purchased. The larger, 80 kg bell is dedicated to Our Lady, which rings three times a day for the Angelus prayer . The smaller, 55 kg heavy bell is dedicated to the poor souls and is used as a death bell . In 1984 an electric bell was installed.
