Maria Kniesburges (* 1956 ) is a German journalist. She is the editor-in-chief of ver.di PUBLIK .

Kniesburges studied journalism in Göttingen and received his doctorate in this subject on the role of the union press . After a traineeship at the Göttinger Tageblatt , she was head of the daily newspaper service from 1985 to 1989 and then a freelance journalist. From 2002 she headed the Evangelical Media Academy and the Evangelical School of Journalism ; first in Frankfurt am Main , then in Berlin .

Since 1 June 2007 she has been editor in chief of ver.di PUBLIC , the members of the newspaper trade union ver.di has a circulation of nearly 1.9 million.
