List of rose varieties

The rose variety 'Maria Lisa' is a hybrid of the cluster rose ( Rosa multiflora ). The Rambler rose was bred in 1925 by the Augustinian monk Brother Alfons (bourgeois Franz Karl Brümmer, 1874–1948) and given to the Sangerhausen Rosarium for inspection along with other varieties . In 1936 'Maria Lisa' was put on the market by Liebau. It is also called 'Maria Liesa'. Maria and Liesa were two women who worked in Brother Alfons' monastery in Germershausen .

'Maria Lisa' blooms very richly once in June to July, with about 3 cm large, unfilled, fragrant, pink flowers with a light eye. The flowers are a valuable pasture for bees and are in clusters of 20 to 60. In autumn, numerous coral-red rose hips form . As a climbing rose, it can grow up to 4 m high on scaffolding or a house wall. Their foliage is dark and shiny. 'Maria Lisa' is frost hardy to −29 ° C ( USDA zone 5 ) and robust.
