List of rose varieties |
The rambler roses , from English ramble - to wander around , are a relatively recent development in rose breeding that has been around since the beginning of the 19th century. The crossing of the Chinese tuft rose ( Rosa multiflora ) and Rosa wichuraiana resulted in a group of climbing roses with long, soft and flexible shoots without a climbing frame on load-bearing components and trees up to 10 m high and with tufts of smaller, wild rose-like flowers unfold an abundant effect. Without pruning and maintenance, they are suitable for being left to their own devices in near-natural gardens. Most varieties of Rambler roses bloom once a year and have lots of rose hips .
In contrast to climbing roses , rambler roses are not yet very common in Germany.
