The pilgrimage church Maria Schnee am Hiltschnerberg is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage church in the municipality of Leopoldschlag in the Mühlviertel ( Upper Austria ).

location

The pilgrimage church Maria Schnee is located east of the B 310 between Freistadt and Wullowitz in the village of Hiltschen.

history

In memory of the much-visited place of grace Maria Schnee at St. Stein on the southern border of Bohemia, a chapel was built in 1978 by Johann and Josef Sturany with donations from believers and displaced people. From 1983 to 1984 the current church was built on this site, which is architecturally modeled on the Church of Our Lady of the Snow in Bohemia. The church was consecrated by the Schlägler Abbot Florian Pröll on August 5, 1984. From their location on Hiltschnerberg there is eye contact with the pilgrimage site of Maria Schnee in the Czech Republic.

The altarpiece was painted by the artist Anna Loistl.

Every year on August 15, the great pilgrimage to the Maria Schnee church on Hiltschnerberg takes place.
