Florian Pröll

Florian Josef Pröll OPraem (born July 6, 1913 in Dietrichschlag near Ulrichsberg , Upper Austria ; † May 19, 1993 in Schlägl , Upper Austria) was a Roman Catholic religious . He was abbot of the Premonstratensian monastery Schlägl .

Life

Florian Pröll first studied forestry (graduate engineer). He joined the order of the Premonstratensians in Schlägl on August 25, 1934 and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1939 in Volders . In 1940/41 he was a cooperator in the Bohemian Friedberg and was drafted into the German Wehrmacht . After returning from American captivity, he was first a religion teacher in Linz (1945–1946) and then a forest controller (1950–1951), forest inspector (1951–1953), forester (1953–1958).

He was the 18th abbot of the Premonstratensian monastery Schlägl from 1958 to 1989.

From 1965 to 1988, Pröll was the administrator of Hamborn Abbey in Duisburg and, together with Franz Cardinal Hengsbach, was involved in re-establishing the abbey.

He was a Grand Officer of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem . Since 1960 he has been an honorary member of the Catholic student association AV Austria Innsbruck in the ÖCV .
