Lecanora rupicola , ( Basionym : Lichen rupicola L. , in Mant (1767)), also called rock-Kuchenflechte is a epilithische lichen from the genus of Lecanora .

features

Lecanora rupicola is a crusty lichen. The camp , a multicellular body of vegetation, is whitish, cream-colored to beige in color. It appears coherent, cracked, and disorganized.

The species has regularly shaped, whitish to yellowish frosted fruiting bodies ( apothecia ). The thin, unobtrusively bordered apothecia reach a size of 0.5 to 1.5 mm. They are sunk into the bearing or are pressed in.

The color of the apothecary edge matches the bearing, so it is a so-called bearing edge, which is also known as the lecanorine edge.

The positive reaction (spot test) with sodium hypochlorite is characteristic , whereupon the apothecia turn yellow to orange. In contrast, the bearing shows no discoloration on sodium hypochlorite. The apothecary discs under the frost appear pink-brown, brown to black.

Species delimitation

Lecanora swartzii shows a positive reaction of the apothecaries and the camp to sodium hypochlorite, which turns a deep yellow to yellow-orange color. The apothecary discs are light brown to gray-brown under the edge. The relatively small bearing has a rounded rosette, the bearing periphery usually has radial cracks.

Lecanora subcarnea shows a positive color reaction of lager and apothecia to p -phenylenediamine , whereupon they show a characteristic red color. The apothecary discs are pink-brown, gray-brown to light brown under the hoop.

ecology

Lecanora rupicola grows epilithically on rocks, blocks and stones made of silicate rock , mainly on horizontal and vertical surfaces. She prefers full light locations.
