Maria Whitney Shipe (* 7. October 1986 in Columbus , Ohio ) is a Filipino - American football player .

Life

Shipe attended Bexley High School in Bexley , Ohio from 2001 to 2004 . Upon graduation, she enrolled for the sophomore year at Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois. After a year she left the AU without a degree and continued her studies at the Robert Morris University of Illinois in Chicago. In spring 2009 she did her doctorate in business administration and left the RMU after successful completion. In addition to her soccer career, Shipe works as a fitness trainer in Chicago.

Football career

Shipe started her career at the FC Indiana Academy . She then played for the Bexley Lions, the school's soccer team, as part of her high school education at Bexley High School. This was later followed by a sophomore year at Aurora University for the AU Eagles team, before continuing her studies at Robert Morris University of Illinois in 2006. After graduating from university in 2009, she began her active semi-professional career with the Chicago Gold Stars in the Illinois Women's Soccer League. After good performance, she got a contract with the WPSL club FC Indiana Lionesses in May 2011 . In Indiana, she scored ten goals in ten games before the league was disbanded after the season. She then left Indiana and moved to the Illinois Women's Soccer League for the Chicago Kickers SC.

International

Shipe plays internationally for the national soccer team of her parents' home country. She made her debut in June 2013 against the Bangladeshi women's national soccer team in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
