Maria Steinach

The Maria Steinach Monastery is located in Algund in South Tyrol . It was built around 1243 by Adelheid, daughter of Albert III. Donated by Tyrol as a Dominican convent and was subordinate to the Bishop of Chur . In 1782 the monastery was abolished as part of the Josephine church reform, and since 1848 it has been run as a monastery again by Dominicans (since 2018 it has been united with the Dominican monastery in Lienz ).
