The novel was also a bestseller in the German-speaking countries and was controversially discussed in the feature pages: as a modernized "feminist development novel " (taz) and "equality reloaded" (SZ), but also as a difficult-to-digest "complaint" (FAZ). After her debut, two more novels from Sveland were published in German with Häschen in der Grube (2013) and Immer noch Bitterfotze (2019).

Since 2007, Sveland has also combined her literary activities with lectures at universities, colleges and libraries, at conferences, literary festivals and other types of cultural events.
