Maria von Bytom

Maria von Beuthen (also Maria von Beuthen and Cosel , Polish Maria Bytomska , Czech Marie Bytomská ; * between 1282 and 1284; † December 15, 1317 in Timișoara ) was Queen of Hungary , Croatia and Dalmatia . According to another source, she was also called Maria Ecaterina or Maria Katharina .

Life

Maria was born as the only daughter of Duke Casimir II of Beuthen and his wife Helena von Halitsch (1304–1323).

In 1306 she married Charles I Robert , who had been King of Croatia and Dalmatia since 1301 and King of Hungary from 1308. The daughters came from marriage

  • Katharina († 1355), married to the Schweidnitz Duke Heinrich II since 1338 .
  • Elisabeth († 1367), married to Bolko von Opole.

Maria died on December 15, 1317 in Timișoara and was buried in the basilica of Székesfehérvár . Other sources name December 15, 1315 as the date of death and name the Katharinenkirche in Timișoara as the place of burial.

Her husband married Beatrix of Luxembourg after her death .
