Viola Elisabeth von Teschen , Czech Viola Alžběta Těšínská , Polish Wiola Elżbieta Cieszyńska (* 1290 ; † September 21, 1317 ) was the wife of the last king of the Přemyslids , Wenceslaus III. , Queen of Hungary and Bohemia .

Life

Viola Elisabeth von Teschen came from the Opole branch of the Silesian Piasts . Her father was Duke Mieszko I von Teschen , the name and origin of her mother are not known.

1305 was Viola Elisabeth with the Bohemian King Wenceslaus III. married, who was murdered on August 4, 1306 in Olomouc . Since the marriage remained childless, the Přemyslid family died out with him in the male line.

The young widow stayed in Prague in the company of three other young women who later became queens: 18-year-old Richza of Poland , 16-year-old Anna Přemyslovna and 14-year-old Princess Elisabeth . Before 1315 she married Peter I von Rosenberg , who was one of the most powerful Bohemian nobles. But already on September 21, 1317 Viola died. Her body was buried in the Rosenberg family crypt in Hohenfurth Abbey.
