Mariama Ceesay (born January 22, 1998 ) is a Gambian soccer player .

Ceesay has been playing for the Red Scorpions since at least 2012 . At the end of April 2016, she and several other Red Scorpions players were suspended from the Gambia Football Federation (GFA) for an attack on referees for twelve months and the team had to compete in the second division in the 2016/2017 season. After that, she continued to play for the Red Scorpions.

National team

In 2009 she was one of a shortlist from which a Gambian national team of women would emerge.

In 2012, Ceesay was nominated as a substitute goalkeeper for the U-17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan , for which the U-17 team had qualified. The team lost all three group games significantly and was bottom of the group. Ceesay was in goal in the third group game against France, which ended 2:10.

At the end of January 2014 she was supposed to be used in a friendly against Guinea-Bissau , which was canceled at short notice. In August 2017, she was part of the Gambian women's national team for a friendly against Cape Verde , which was also canceled.

On September 16, 2017, she played for the team in the first official international game against Guinea Bissau.

She competed with the Gambian team in qualifying for the Africa Cup of Women in 2018 and was used in both games of the first half of the season against Burkina Faso. The team was eliminated in the second round against Nigeria , which later won the title.
