Marian Braczko

Marian Braczko (born July 20, 1926 in Niewiarowie ; † October 7, 2015 ) was a Polish chess player and chess official who was best known for his successes in correspondence chess .

Sporting successes

After the Second World War , Braczko studied economics in Warsaw and then worked for the Ministry of Finance. Braczko, who held the title of International Master in correspondence chess , won medals three times at national Polish correspondence chess championships in the course of his career. At the 6th correspondence chess championship (1963-1965) he was first in front of Jerzy Mingajło and Gerard Szewczyk . At the 2nd Polish Championship (1959-1960) he was second behind Eugeniusz Golemo and Józef Byrtek . At the 9th Polish Championship he was behind Jerzy Krzysztoń and Ernest Kocem with 11 points third. In total, Baczko took part in six national Polish championships.

Internationally, Marian Braczko represented the Polish correspondence chess federation from the beginning of the 1960s to 2007. At the 5th ICCF Olympiad (1962–1964) he achieved seventh place in the eliminations with 2½ / 6 points, as well as at the 6th Olympiad (1965-1968). At the 8th Olympiad (1972-1976) he reached second place in the eliminations.

Marian Braczko was the second chairman of the commission for correspondence chess in the Polish chess association Polski Związek Szachowy .

His best rating was 2383 in 1983.
