Marianne Lüdeke

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marianne Lüdeke , also Marianne Lüdecke , (* before 1850, † 1912 at the earliest) was a German opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

In 1866 Marianne Lüdecke was engaged to the grand ducal court theater in Karlsruhe . The German stage almanac from 1869 mentions Lüdeke as a member of the Karlsruhe ensemble; around this time, however, she changed her place of work and went to the Schwerin court theater . There she worked from 1868 to 1871. In 1871 she made a guest appearance as Fidelio in Munich , where she also appeared on stage as the Countess in Figaro's wedding . A Munich critic was not entirely enthusiastic, but wrote: "We believe that Frl. Lüdeke has the material to be a dramatic singer and that, with proper guidance, she should ultimately be a good acquisition for the court stage." Later Lüdeke was prima donna at the court theater in Coburg-Gotha , which she probably left in 1874.

The dramatic singer was Schumann's first “ Genoveva ” (premiered June 25, 1850) in the opera of the same name. Her successful performances include "Fidelio", "Elisabeth", "Donna Anna" and "Valentine". She lived in Berlin even before the turn of the century , there until at least 1912. Margarete Steiner was one of her students in Berlin.
