The World Championships were originally awarded to Pietermaritzburg in South Africa by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) . However, the part of the athletes, there was sharp criticism: The velodrome Sax Young cycling track in Pietermaritzburg is open and 463 meters long (default is 250 meters in length), this was "sub-standard". These are bad conditions for world championships, which served as qualifications for the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro .
