Tristen Chernove (born May 22, 1975 in Powell River ) is a Canadian paracycler . He starts in class C2.

Athletic career

Tristen Chernove had a passion for cycling from childhood. In 2009 he was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a disease of the peripheral nervous system . He decided to start competitive cycling in paracycling, also to see how far he could stress his body. He believes that exercise has slowed the symptoms of CMT.

In 2016 Chernove had its first international successes when he finished first in the individual time trial and in the road race at the World Cup in Belgium . In the same year he became two-time world champion in the single pursuit and in the 1000 meter time trial on the track . Also in 2016 he started at the Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro and won gold in the time trial on the road. On the track he took silver in the single pursuit and bronze in the time trial . He was also a two-time Canadian champion.

At the 2017 UCI Track World Championships , Tristen Chernove became three-time world champion in time trial, pursuit and scratch , and at the world championships on the road, he won both time trial and road racing titles. At the track world championships the following year he won gold in the single pursuit and silver in the time trial. In 2019 he won three medals at the World Track Championships: gold in the scratch, silver in the single pursuit and bronze in the time trial.
