Peter "Pete" Mitchell (born January 12, 1990 in London ) is a British track cyclist who specializes in short-term disciplines. He is also active as a pilot in track races for visually impaired cyclists.

Athletic career

In 2007 Peter Mitchell was Junior World Champion in the team sprint , together with David Daniell and Christian Lyte , and finished third in the sprint . At the European Track Championships (U23) he was second in the team sprint (with Steven Hill and Luc Jones ) and third in the sprint in 2008 ; In 2010 he took third place in the sprint again. Since 2009 Mitchell has taken podium places at national track championships several times, most recently he was British runner-up in the sprint, behind Jason Kenny .

At the 2014 UCI Paracycling World Track Championships in Aguascalientes , Mitchell and Neil Fachie won two gold medals as his tandem pilot, in the time trial and in the sprint. The two athletes were able to repeat this success in the following two years.

In 2016 Mitchell and Fachie won the silver medal in the time trial on the track at the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro . In 2019 he became world time trial champion as a pilot for James Ball .
