Velodromo Fassa Bortolo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Velodromo Fassa Bortolo is an indoor cycling track in Montichiari near Brescia in northern Italy . The Velodromo is the only completely covered track in Italy.

The cycling track was opened in 2009; it is 250 meters long and made of pine wood . International competitions have already taken place there several times, such as the UCI World Junior Championships in 2010 and the UCI Paracycling World Championships in 2011 and 2016 . In addition, the UEC Masters Track European Championships 2011 and the UEC Derny European Championships 2011, 2012 and 2013 were held in Montichiari . In 2016 the UEC European Track Championships for Juniors / U23 took place in Montichiari .

The cycle track is named after the building materials company Fassa Bortolo , which also supported and supports cycling teams in road cycling , such as the former men's team Fassa Bortolo and the women's cycling team Fassa Bortolo-Servetto .

In July 2018, the railway was closed because water seeped through the roof and fire protection was not ensured. The UEC European Track Championships for Juniors / U23 2018 planned in Montichiari had to be canceled at short notice and relocated to the World Cycling Center in Aigle , Switzerland . Afterwards the track was only released for the training of the national team, since a maximum of 50 people were allowed to stay in the building at the same time. In October 2019, after the renovation work was completed, the Italian national team resumed training to a normal extent in the Velodrome.
