Life

From 1925 to 1933 she attended elementary school in Leipzig and passed the Abitur in 1948 as part of the second course. In the same year she enrolled at the Philosophical Faculty in Leipzig and passed the diploma exam in art history and German studies at the same university in 1953. In 1958 she moved to Cologne with the aim of doing a doctorate. There she resumed her studies in the subjects of art history, archeology and German studies. She took part in lectures and exercises, in addition to Leipzig and Cologne, also at the University of Bonn. Prause received his doctorate in Cologne in 1964 under the title: Carl Gustav Carus as a painter . This is the authoritative catalog raisonné of painting by Carus, a former painter friend - between 1817 and 1828 - of Caspar David Friedrich , who exerted influence on him and in his early phase Carus leaned on him. In her doctoral thesis she thanked her academic teachers, professors Johannes Jahn and Heinz Ladendorf , who imparted her understanding of art and scientific work.
