Marianus Hauseder

Marianus Hauseder (born Franz Hauseder on June 28, 1936 in Grieskirchen ) was abbot of Engelszell Abbey from 1995 to 2012 .

Life

Hauseder studied at the Petrinum in Linz , then joined the Salesians of Don Bosco and was ordained a priest in 1964 in Monteortone near Padua . He then worked as a youth minister and catechist. In 1981 he joined the Trappists of Engelszell Abbey. In 1991 he was appointed superior of the monastery and in 1995 he was elected abbot. Resigned in 2012 due to exceeding the age limit and after a one-year extension by the General Chapter, he headed the monastery as superior until February 2017.

In 2014 he was awarded the Silver Medal of Honor of the State of Upper Austria .
