history
Johann Paul Schoeller (1778–1838) founded a cloth factory as early as 1805, Viehmarkt (today: Kaiserplatz). To get water for his production, he bought the paper mill from Johann Cremer and later the copper mill at Lendersdorfer Teich in Mariaweiler. He changed both the paper mill and the Küpfermühle to cloth mills. In 1854, Schoeller laid out today's Mariaweilerstraße at his own expense so that his workers from the surrounding towns could come directly to his cloth mills.
