Marie-Eugénie de Jésus
Marie-Eugénie de Jésus (born August 26, 1817 in Metz , France , † March 10, 1898 in Auteuil , today a district in the 16th arrondissement of Paris , France) was a founder of the French order and is a saint in the Catholic Church .
Life
At the age of eight, Marie-Eugénie joined a monastic community of women who were dedicated to educational work. Marie-Eugénie Milleret de Brou founded the “Sisters of the Assumption” in 1839, also known as “Assumptionists” (French: Religieuses de l'Assomption ). Marie-Eugénie made her profession in 1844 . She headed the community of sisters until 1894. The members of the community, which was papally confirmed in 1888, are dedicated to the education of young girls. In 1882 Marie-Eugénie de Jésus founded the Institut de l'Assomption school , which is colloquially known as Lübeck because it is located on Rue de Lübeck .
Marie-Eugénie was founded by Pope Paul VI. on February 9, 1975 beatified by Pope Benedict XVI. canonized on June 3, 2007 . Her feast day in the liturgy is March 10th .
