Marie-Noëlle Lienemann (born July 12, 1951 in Belfort ) is a French politician of the Parti socialiste .

Life

Lienemann studied physics and chemistry at the École normal supérieure de Cachan .

From March 18, 1989 to March 11, 2001, she was the successor of René L'Helguen mayor of Athis-Mons . From June 12, 1988 to April 1, 1992, she was a member of the National Assembly . From April 2, 1992 to March 29, 1993, she was Minister for Housing and Urban Development in the government of Pierre Bérégovoy, succeeding Jean-Michel Baylet . From March 27, 2001 to May 6, 2002, Lienemann was State Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

From 1984 to 1988, from 1997 to 2001 and from 2004 to 2009 Lienemann was a member of the European Parliament for the social democratic Parti socialiste. From July 20, 1999 to March 27, 2001 she was Vice-President of the European Parliament.

In 2018 she left the Parti socialiste.
