Marie Schäffer

Marie Schäffer (* 1990 in Thedinghausen ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). Since 2019 she has been the directly elected member of the Potsdam I state constituency .

She is a computer scientist (master's degree in IT systems engineering at the University of Potsdam ). Schäffer became a member of the Green Youth and Alliance 90 / The Greens in 2009 . In 2015 she was elected for the first time as an assessor on the state board of the Brandenburg association of her party. In the local elections in 2019, Schäffer was elected to the city council of Potsdam .

In the state electoral district of Potsdam I , Schäffer prevailed in the state elections in Brandenburg in 2019 with 27 percent of the votes against Klara Geywitz , who had represented the constituency without interruption since 2004, and was thus directly elected to the Brandenburg state parliament. It won the only direct mandate of the Greens in the history of the state of Brandenburg.
