The Marienkapelle is a building from the end of the 18th century in the front village of Hinterstein .

description

The chapel was built according to the year in the lintel above the entrance in 1799. It is made of rubble stones and plastered and has a gable roof. Originally, it was one window axis shorter than it is today. It has a shingled square roof turret and a choir with a three-sided end.

The bell dates from 1730 and was cast in Kempten by Johannes Schirmeister.

The ship is provided with a flat plaster ceiling. In the choir is a late baroque altar from the workshop of Melchior Eberhard in Hindelang , dated 1749. The volute curves on the sides bear figures of St. Joachim and St. Anna with Maria. In the excerpt between the volutes, God the Father and the dove, symbolizing the Holy Spirit, as well as an angel to the side can be seen; on the predella there is a relief representation of souls in purgatory. The Virgin Mary surrounded by cherubs heads.

A crucifix hangs on the south wall, and on the north wall of the choir there is a late Baroque figure of St. Franz Xavier from 1740 by Melchior Eberhard.

The walls of the ship are adorned with classicist stations of the cross, which date from around 1800. They were painted with oil paint on wooden panels and are probably by Ignatius Scholl . St. Helena is included in the canon as the 15th station .

Among the votive pictures is a depiction of the Holy Family on the Flight into Egypt, which was painted by Martin Fröhlich from Buchloe in 1797 . Another picture shows the family who founded the chapel.
