The Marie Road in the district town Düren ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ) is an ancient city road .

Marienstraße connects Schützenstraße in an easterly direction with Moltkestraße. It runs parallel to Bismarckstrasse in the north and Kölnstrasse in the south .

On the north side, between Marienstraße and Bismarckstraße, are the buildings of the Düren district administration. The building of Anton Germscheid's former private business school is on the corner of Moltkestraße and Marienstraße .

history

Marienstraße was an access road for new building plots, which the large landowner and coal trader Hermann Kirchner, then living at Kölnstraße 59, had built. In 1894 he submitted the project to build a road near the city of Düren. Several regulations were made to him, e.g. B. a street width of 16 meters and front gardens for all houses. He also had to give the street to the city for free.

The way then called Kirchnerstraße was at Kirchner's request on May 5, 1896 after St. Maria named.
