Marienwerder Knaster

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Marienwerder Knaster was a pipe tobacco that was produced in the province of Pomerania before 1945 .

It was grown in the municipality of Marienwerder in the Pyritz district in Western Pomerania. The cultivation area comprised (as of 1936) approx. 3 hectares. The dried tobacco leaves were twisted into strands and then braided into rolls and brought to the consumer. The Marienwerder Knaster smelled unpleasant and was therefore mainly smoked while working in the fields, not in living rooms.
