Marijan Vojska

Marijan Vojska (* 1934 in Domzale , Yugoslavia ) is a German artist, painter and graphic artist.

Career

From 1951 to 1955 Vojska studied at the Werkkunstschule in Ljubljana and was a master student of Riko Debenjak. 1955 to 1959 he continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. After studying in England, Vojska traveled to the Federal Republic of Germany in the early 1960s and got caught up in the tendencies of an up-and-coming society looking for a new cultural identity. In circles of young colleagues from the cultural scene in the city of Hagen , he experienced the Germans striving for a modern identity and a cultural turning point in order to begin a cultural reconstruction after the material reconstruction. He decided to bring his pedagogical training and artistic work into this process. In 1965 he began working as a lecturer for free graphics at the Werkkunstschule in Münster .

Thanks to the support of sponsors, he founded an art studio in Hagen, where, in addition to painting, he mainly devoted himself to printmaking. Together with other artists, he laid the foundation for the resurgence of artistic printmaking in Germany, which flourished in the 1980s. His prints achieved a fixed market share in the 1970s to 80s, with which he was listed among the first 70 most traded artists.

Private events caused the artist to gradually cease his public relations work in the mid-1980s. He devoted himself increasingly to his work at the Münster University of Applied Sciences. There he had been awarded the title of professor in 1973. In his later years he was appointed dean of the design department at the Münster University of Applied Sciences.
