Marin Trenk
Marin Trenk (born September 15, 1953 in Crvenka , Yugoslavia ) is a German ethnologist . He became famous with the book Döner Hawaii , in which he analyzes the "Germanization" of foreign food.
Career
Trenk studied ethnology , sociology and religious studies at the Free University of Berlin from 1975 to 1981 . During his studies, he conducted field research in Nigeria and Kenya . A second degree in business administration followed from 1981 to 1986 at the Free University of Berlin.
Since 2006 he has held a chair for ethnology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . There he introduced the research area of culinary ethnology . Trenk is a member of the culinary forum and focuses on researching Thai food culture. In Isaan he conducted field research for 15 months.
