Marina Alexandrovna Borowskaja ( Russian Марина Александровна Боровская , born October 8, 1964 in Sverdlovsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian economist . Professor , Doctor of Economics and Rector of the Southern Federal University since 2012. She is also President of the Council of Rectors of the Southern Federal District and Vice-President of the Russian Union of Rectors.

Marina Alexandrovna Borovskaya was born on October 8, 1964 in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg ).

In 1986 she graduated from the Rostov State University's Faculty of Economics (subject " Political Economy ").

In 1989, she enrolled in full-time postgraduate studies at Rostov State University. In September 1991 she also started working at the Taganrog State Radio Technical University as an assistant in the Department of Economics. Since 1994 she has worked as a senior specialist in the credit department at PromStrojBank in Rostov-on-Don . In 1996 she moved to the insurance company Soyuz , where she held the position of main financial specialist.

In 1997 she defended her candidacy in 2002, her doctoral thesis was on " Management of communal property in the regional economy system: a theoretical and an applied aspect ". From 2003 to 2007 she was responsible for the department. From 2007 to 2010 she worked as deputy rector.

In 2010, she moved to the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia , where she held the post of deputy director of the department for the organization of the budget process, accounting and reporting until 2012.

On June 18, 2012, Marina Borovskaya was appointed Rector of the Southern Federal University by decree of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev . In 2016, she was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Education.
