The Bordum marine facility is a Bundeswehr property in Wilhelmshaven , which has been home to the Bundeswehr logistics center since 2001 . It lies between the dike to the Jade Bay and the Banter See on Anton-Dohrn-Weg and is named after the former Frisian village of Bordum , which was destroyed by the Antoni flood in 1511 .

history

The first buildings were completed in 1938 for the navigation department of the Kriegsmarinewerft Wilhelmshaven . With the amalgamation of the equipment and navigation departments in July 1940, the facility was expanded.

After the war, the Max Planck Institute for Marine Biology moved into the building in 1947 . It was renamed the Institute for Cell Biology in 1968 and relocated to Ladenburg in 1977 . In March 1980 the institute handed over the building to the Federal Property Office . The renovation of the building for the Naval Office began quickly . However, damage from arson delayed completion. The increasing demand for modern office workplaces made it necessary in 1987 to build a new office building and a telecommunication building with a telex and telephone exchange .

In the meantime, the artists' social fund, which had been based in Wilhelmshaven since 1982, was housed in a wing of the former Max Planck Institute until the spring of 1983.

After the renovation, the property was named Marine Plant Bordum . Since it is exclusively an office building and no accommodation is provided for soldiers, it is not a barracks complex .

The staff, the administration department and the organization, strength and equipment certificate (OSTAN) department of the naval office moved into the renovated building. The material department of the naval support command moved into the new building on Lake Banter and was integrated into the naval office a little later.

As part of a new stationing concept, the naval office was relocated to Rostock with effect from January 1, 1998 . With the centralization of logistics tasks, the deployment staff of the logistics center of the Bundeswehr took over the building in 2001 and moved into the so-called Bordum naval facility with the management, the staff and some departments .
