Navy barracks (Vienna)
The Marine barracks is a former barracks in the Kuchelauer Hafenstraße 100 in the 19th Vienna district Döbling . The barracks, located directly on the Danube, was built for the German Wehrmacht in 1938 after the invasion .
Units of the Red Army were quartered here during the occupation . In 1955, the Austrian Armed Forces took over the barracks, later called the Tegetthoff Marine Barracks, and decided to close it in 2005. The property was sold in June 2012 to the Austrian settlement agency, which built privately financed condominiums on it.
On September 28, 2012, the military operation of the Army Troop School / Institute Pionier (HTS / InstPi; until 2008: Pioneer Troop School (PiTS)) in the naval barracks was discontinued. Since October 1, 2012, the Pionier Institute has been located at the Bruckneudorf military training area .
