Marinus is an impact crater on the southeastern edge of the lunar front , north of Oken crater and southwest of Harlan . The crater is moderately eroded, just inside. The southern edge is overlaid by the secondary crater Marinus G , and the almost equally large secondary craters B and R are immediately adjacent to the western and northwestern rim .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Phoenician geographer Marinos of Tire .
