Mario Alberto Trejo Guzmán (born February 11, 1956 in Mexico City ) is a former Mexican football player on the position of defender , who after the end of his active career initially worked as a football coach and has recently become sports director at the UNAM Pumas .
biography
Mario Trejo emerged from the junior division of Club America , where he received his first professional contract at the beginning of the 1974/75 season . While he hardly was used in his first years, he has developed over the season 1978/79 team regular who was soon indispensable part of the team and a significant part in the championship titles of the seasons 1983/84 and 1984/85 had .
Due to his outstanding achievements, an appointment to the Mexican national soccer team was not long in coming. He played his first international game on February 28, 1980 against South Korea (1-0) and in the game against Ecuador (3-2) on December 4, 1984, he scored his only international goal.
Immediately after the 1986 FIFA World Cup in his own country , in which Trejo played the preliminary rounds against Belgium (2: 1) and Paraguay (1: 1), he moved to Tampico-Madero FC , where he was until his financially-related withdrawal stayed from the Primera División at the end of the 1989/90 season and ended his active career.
Trejo then worked for a long time as a trainer in the youth sector and took over the post of Oaxaca Sports Director in summer 2008 . Since 2010 he has been the sports director of the first division club Club Universidad , an arch-rival of his ex-club América.
