Mario Baffico
Mario Baffico (actually Mario Libero Pietro Baffigo , born February 5, 1907 in La Maddalena , Sassari , † January 17, 1972 in Rome ) was an Italian film director , film producer and screenwriter .
Life
Baffico founded one of the first cinema clubs in Italy, worked as a critic and wrote the book Profili di Hollywood (Milan, A. Gorlini, 1930). In 1932 he directed his first short film ; four years later, with Alberto Lattuada and in the additional role of producer, his first full-length feature film La danza della lancette . His subsequent films could neither confirm the quality nor the success of this first film and sometimes had problems getting into the distribution program at all. After the Second World War he devoted himself almost exclusively to documentary work; only one sentimental comedy was still an exception, which was only shown six years after its creation.
