Eduard Tecklenborg

Eduard Noltenius Hiram Paulding Tecklenborg (born August 1, 1849 in Bremen , † October 9, 1926 in Bremen) was a German businessman, shipowner and shipyard owner.

Tecklenborg was one of five children of the shipowner and shipyard owner Franz Tecklenborg (1807-1886) and his second wife Wilhelmine Tecklenborg, née Brandorff (1821-1893). Baptism party was among others the American Rear Admiral Hiram Paulding (1797-1878), who visited Bremen in 1849 with his frigate USS St. Lawrence .

In 1868 he joined his father's shipping company and sailmaker's business and in 1872 became authorized signatory of his father's company in Bremen and also authorized signatory, together with Georg Wilhelm Claussen , of the Johann C. Tecklenborg shipyard in Bremerhaven. After the death of his uncle Johann Carl Tecklenborg in 1874 he became a partner in the shipyard and was responsible for the commercial management. Claussen led the shipyard as technical manager.

In 1894 Tecklenborg gave up the shipping company and in 1890 the sailmaking business . In 1897 the shipyard became a public limited company and Tecklenborg became a member of the board. In 1908 he moved from the shipyard's board of directors to the supervisory board . He was active in the Bremen Chamber of Commerce .

Eduard Tecklenborg was one of the founding members of the Shipbuilding Society in Berlin in 1899 .

In 1903 he became head of the Seefahrt house and 1908/09 administrative head .

The entrepreneur Fritz Tecklenborg (1888–1964) was his son and heir to the company.

Eduard Tecklenborg was buried in the Tecklenborg family grave in the Waller Friedhof in Bremen.
