Mario García Kohly

Mario García Kohly (born April 10, 1875 in Havana , † July 22, 1934 in Madrid ) was a Cuban politician and diplomat .

Life

Mario García Kohly was a son of Maria Teresa Kohly y Zalba and Juan de Dios García Quijano. He married Margarita Antiga on February 22, 1898 in Mexico City. He later married María Dolores Fernández y Monteverde, the daughter of María Dolores Monteverde y Sedano and Roendo Fernández y Gamondea.

Mario Garcia Kohly studied law and practiced the profession of lawyer . During the government of Tomás Estrada Palma he was a member of the Cámara de Representantes . From 1910 to 1913 he was Minister of Justice and Minister of Education. From July 10, 1913 he was the Cuban ambassador in Madrid.

One son was the investment banker Mario García Kohly (1899-1975), who fought against Fidel Castro.
